Macci: Djokovic Hasn’t Gotten Enough Credit For What He Did In 2023.
Rick Macci, the former coach of Serena Williams, commended Novak Djokovic's remarkable 2023 season, during which the Serbian player achieved numerous records.
In the previous year, Djokovic displayed nearly invincible form, securing the highest number of singles titles on the ATP Tour with a total of seven. Among these victories, three were at the Grand Slam level, and he came close to completing the Calendar Grand Slam, falling short in his only major final at Wimbledon against Carlos Alcaraz.
Despite participating in only 12 ATP tournaments, Djokovic dominated the field. He notched up 17 Top 10 wins, the most by any player, and made history by becoming the first man to claim 40 Masters 1000 titles, triumphing in Cincinnati and Paris-Bercy in the latter part of the season. Despite Djokovic’s outstanding performance, Macci believes the 36-year-old did not receive the recognition he deserved. Notably, Djokovic was excluded from the ATP’s end-of-season awards and missed out on millions in bonus payments due to failing to meet eligibility criteria.
The esteemed American coach emphasized that it is “unheard of” for a player in his late 30s to win three out of the four Grand Slams. Additionally, the 69-year-old stated that Djokovic’s success will serve as a motivational factor for the rest of the tour.

Believe it or not @DjokerNole has not gotten Enough Credit for what he has done this past year. To win 3 of the 4 Slams at his age is Unheard of IN ANY SPORT. The Snipers Rock Solid performance to Dominate will Educate Stimulate and Motivate every player in the REAR VIEW MIRROR.
