Recruiting Reset: Jason King is a dynamic force that causes significant disruption.

Mizzou’s recruiting momentum continues with Jason King becoming the sixth commitment in the Tigers’ 2025 recruiting class to verbally commit to the program, marking the highest number of commitments before May in the Drinkwitz regime’s five recruiting cycles.

In contrast to last year, when Mizzou had only two commitments heading into June before a flurry of commitments around the 4th of July, this year feels different and more positive.

Jason King, listed at 6’1″ and 215 pounds, primarily plays as a Middle Linebacker, but his versatility is evident in his film, where he lines up as a slot defender, edge rusher, and linebacker. Adjusting for the typical size inflation in high school prospects, he’s likely closer to 5’11” or 6’0″ and 195-200 pounds, which is more in line with a safety’s size at the college level. His style of play resembles some of Mizzou’s aggressive safeties, such as Jaylon Carlies and Daylan Carnell, showing an ability to power through blocks and make solid tackles in space.

It’s unclear if the coaches view him as a future SEC linebacker or a strong safety/STAR safety due to his skill set, which includes aggressive pass rushing and solid open-field tackling. Additionally, King occasionally plays wildcat quarterback, adding a fun element to his game, even though it’s not a typical Mizzou strategy.
