The Texas Rangers have announced that pitcher Nathan Eovaldi has been placed on the 15-day injured list. In his place, the team has called up pitcher Yerry Rodriguez from AAA Round Rock.
Eovaldi exited yesterday’s game against the Washington Nationals in the sixth inning due to tightness in his groin. Reports suggest that the team anticipates he will not be out for an extended period and should return relatively soon.
It is expected that Jack Leiter will take Eovaldi’s spot in the rotation when it comes back around. In the meantime, Rodriguez’s call-up provides the Rangers with an additional reliever, bringing their bullpen to nine pitchers.
