Auburn freshman top defender was arrested following a terrible incidence.

On April 6, 2024, during the A-Day Spring Game at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama, Auburn freshman edge rusher Jamonta Waller (#11) was captured by photographer Austin Perryman. Matt Cohen reported for AL.com that Waller, a former high school student at Picayune Memorial High School in Mississippi, was arrested on Thursday on the premises of his former school.

The arrest was confirmed by an Auburn spokesperson on Monday, linking it to an alleged senior prank at the Picayune Memorial High School. More than 20 individuals, including Waller, were arrested by the Picayune School District Campus Police and the Picayune Police Department. The investigation is being led by the school district police, as confirmed by Picayune Police Chief Joe Quave. Reports indicate that 18 out of the 21 arrested individuals were charged as adults with “malicious mischief” and were temporarily detained in the Pearl River County Jail until their parents posted bond. Despite attempts by AL.com to gather more information from various agencies such as the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office, Pearl River County Clerk of Courts, and the Pearl River County School District, no further details were provided as of Monday afternoon. Auburn students had already started leaving campus as it was the final exam week, coinciding with the graduation ceremonies held over the weekend. Waller, a former four-star recruit, committed to Auburn in November and signed in December, ranking as the sixth highest-rated player in Auburn’s No. 8 ranked incoming freshmen class. He participated in spring practices and made one tackle during Auburn’s spring game on April 6.
