The positioning of the Anthony Rendon exhibit at the ballpark feels a tad too obvious.

The Los Angeles Angels are facing a string of unfortunate circumstances. Not only did they have a quiet offseason, with their star player Shohei Ohtani leaving for the Dodgers, but their significant offseason acquisition, Robert Stephenson, is now sidelined for the season. Adding to their woes, Mike Trout requires knee surgery.

The combination of poor decisions and unfortunate events is troubling, and Anthony Rendon epitomizes this dilemma.

Many had doubts about Rendon’s worthiness of the $245 million deal he signed with the team before the 2020 season. While he showed promise in Washington, his performance was not consistently elite. However, his severe hamstring injury this month accentuates concerns, marking the fourth consecutive season where he has struggled to contribute significantly.

Despite the organization’s previous support for Rendon, recent developments regarding his likeness at Angel Stadium are intriguing.

The placement of Anthony Rendon displays at Angel Stadium is reminiscent of performance art. While it’s unclear how or when this display was arranged, it seems logical that the Angels aimed to showcase active players and simply moved Rendon’s likeness out of the spotlight. Although the intention was likely not to make a statement, the arrangement is ironically amusing. Trash cans surrounding Rendon’s display appear to safeguard him from any threats, while a folded table leans on the display for support. This setup humorously reflects Rendon’s injury-prone reputation.

While Rendon’s contract may be considered one of the worst in baseball, it hasn’t stopped fans from finding humor in the situation.
