Steelers Rookie Julius Welschof Offered CFL Contract with Calgary Stampeders

Julius Welschof, formerly of the Charlotte 49ers, recently signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers after going undrafted in the NFL Draft. However, despite his NFL signing, Welschof was selected by the Calgary Stampeders as the 13th overall pick in the CFL draft.

A German native, Welschof began his football career at Michigan before transferring to Charlotte for his final season. In his collegiate career, he played 27 games, recording 25 tackles, one for a loss, and one sack. Unfortunately, his final season with the 49ers was cut short due to a season-ending injury after just four games.

In other news, former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Anthony Miller has been cut from the team’s roster. Additionally, the Steelers’ top rookies have been assigned jersey numbers ahead of rookie minicamp.
