Boston has made several roster adjustments, reinstating Nick Pivetta from the injured list due to a flexor strain, along with infielder Romy González. Correspondingly, the team optioned right-hander Naoyuki Uwasawa to Triple-A Worcester and designated infielder Zack Short for assignment, according to an official team statement.
Pivetta showcased his form in his two starts in 2024, impressively maintaining a 0.82 ERA in solid performances against the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics. Meanwhile, González demonstrated his prowess in Triple-A at the beginning of the season, earning a promotion to the Red Sox before injuries disrupted his progress. His return bolsters Boston’s infield depth.

Short was acquired by the Red Sox from the New York Mets before his recent transaction. Uwasawa provided valuable innings during his time in MLB and remains a potential depth option for the team.
Pivetta is slated to take the mound as the Red Sox face off against former Boston ace Chris Sale and the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, with the game scheduled to commence at 7:20 p.m. ET. Viewers can tune in to NESN for the game coverage, including an hour of pregame analysis.
