Braves Swiftly Secure New Infielder After Trading One, Keeping Roster Dynamic!

Earlier in the day, the Atlanta Braves streamlined their roster with a trade, sending Luis Guillorme to the Angels. With David Fletcher occupying the utility infielder role, Guillorme’s departure seemed logical, despite both players being acquired last offseason.

Yet, it seems the Braves still desired another infield option. Acting swiftly, they struck a deal with the Red Sox for Zack Short, even before the day’s end.

Although this move may not significantly impact the 2024 season for Braves fans, it’s worth noting that the Red Sox had recently designated Short for assignment to accommodate Romy Gonzalez and Nick Pivetta. However, the Braves saw potential value in Short despite his limited plate appearances and modest .229 OPS this season.

With a stacked infield featuring Austin Riley, Orlando Arcia, Ozzie Albies, and Matt Olson, Short’s versatility as an infielder provides valuable depth, especially considering his low acquisition cost. While this move may not be hailed as a blockbuster, it could prove crucial if injuries arise, demonstrating the Braves’ proactive approach as they gear up for the season’s challenges.
