Arizona Diamondbacks Injury Update: Key Players on the Sidelines

Alek Thomas Experiences Another Setback

The Arizona Diamondbacks’ injured list includes six players from their Opening Day roster. Notably absent from this group is starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez, who began the season on the IL.

Rodriguez and, more recently, center fielder Alek Thomas have faced setbacks in their efforts to return to game action. Rodriguez had to pause his throwing program in early April, while Thomas experienced discomfort just before his expected return on May 7 against the Cincinnati Reds.

General manager Mike Hazen acknowledged the stop-and-start nature of some of these injuries, emphasizing the balance between allowing players sufficient time to recover and their eagerness to return to the field.

Manager Torey Lovullo mentioned the lessons learned from Rodriguez’s setback, indicating that his recovery may have been rushed.
