Mount Allison Mounties Shine in CFL Draft: Daniel Bell Selected by Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Daniel Bell, a standout football player graduating from Mount Allison University, expressed a mix of emotions upon seeing his name announced as the 34th pick in the 2024 CFL draft, specifically chosen by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as the fourth overall pick.

Bell joins a notable list of Mount Allison Mounties football alumni who have been selected in the CFL draft, marking the third consecutive year that a Mounties player has been chosen. He will be participating in the Tiger-Cats’ training camp scheduled for this month, alongside his former Mountie teammate Reece Martin, who was drafted by the same team in the previous year but opted to return for another season with the Mounties.

Additionally, Lucas Cormier, another former teammate of Bell and Martin and a native of Sackville, was drafted by the Ottawa RedBlacks last year and successfully secured a spot on the team’s roster for the 2023 season.

Mount Allison’s head coach, Peter Fraser, and director of athletics, Jacques Bellefleur, recently visited CHMA studios to discuss Bell’s dedication and the significance of the Mounties’ recent achievements in the CFL draft, highlighting the positive impact it can have on the university’s football program.
