“Roosters’ Contract Crisis: Player’s Lonely Cry for Communication Goes Unanswered”

Angus Crichton has stated his reluctance to play second fiddle to David Fifita in the 2025 season, placing the decision on his future squarely in the hands of the Roosters.

The 28-year-old forward’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he’s yet to confirm his return to the Tricolours. Crichton expressed skepticism about fitting into the team alongside Fifita, both being left-side players.

Fifita recently signed a lucrative four-year deal with the Roosters, raising doubts about Crichton’s future. Crichton emphasized his desire not to play a supporting role and indicated openness to exploring opportunities elsewhere.

Despite his strong performances, including a standout display against the Warriors, Crichton remains uncertain about his future, especially amid a crowded back-row roster and salary cap constraints. Despite reports of discussions with the club, he’s yet to hear from coach Trent Robinson directly, leaving him feeling overlooked and questioning the team’s intentions.

While Crichton’s former club, South Sydney Rabbitohs, has shown interest, the Penrith Panthers, with their financial flexibility, and potential rugby union opportunities also linger as possibilities.

Crichton’s journey has been marked by challenges, including positional shifts and personal issues, but his determination to secure his spot in the team remains steadfast.
