Breaking Boundaries: Rugby Australia Secures Historic Partnership with Premier Women’s Fashion Brand

Rugby Australia has inked groundbreaking deals with Forcast, marking the first exclusive partnership with a female fashion brand for both the Sevens Women’s Squad and the Wallaroos. Meanwhile, the Wests Tigers continue to grapple with challenges as they bid farewell to a significant one-million-dollar sponsorship with Brydens Lawyers.

Forcast’s collaboration with Rugby Australia signifies a new era, with the renowned women’s fashion label becoming the official supplier for Australia’s female rugby teams. Players from the Sevens Women’s Squad and the Wallaroos will don Forcast attire during formal events and functions, highlighting a dedicated focus on women’s sportswear.

Alicia Chea, Forcast’s Head of Digital, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to empowering women across various spheres, including sports. Meanwhile, the Wests Tigers announced the conclusion of their long-standing partnership with Brydens Lawyers, which began in 2015 and escalated to a principal shirtfront sponsorship in 2016.

Despite facing challenges both on and off the field, Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson expressed gratitude for Brydens Lawyers’ steadfast support over the years. The decision comes amid internal upheavals within the club, including the departure of former chairman Lee Hagipantelis, who is also the principal of Brydens Lawyers.

NRL journalist Phil Rothfield revealed details of a scathing letter from Hagipantelis to the Tigers’ corporate partnerships head, Nathan Russell, criticizing the club’s internal review and key stakeholders. With the partnership ending, the Tigers are now on the lookout for a new principal sponsor ahead of the 2025 season kickoff.

In other sponsorship news, the Westpac NSW Blues & Westpac NSW Sky Blues have partnered with BSc ahead of the Women’s 2024 Ampol State of Origin and the men’s State of Origin. BSc, known for its athlete-approved supplements, will provide hydration and nutrition products for NSW Origin players and offer fan activations during State of Origin matches.
