Collingwood announces a setback for their star forward, he might be off for the rest of the season.

Collingwood forward Jamie Elliott is set to miss several weeks due to a “vascular issue,” with the club providing updates on various senior and emerging players currently undergoing treatment.

Elliott did not play over the weekend against West Coast due to foot soreness, initially thought to be linked to a back issue. Further assessment revealed a minor vascular problem, sidelining the premiership Magpie for up to three weeks as he undergoes a modified training program and treatment.

“Disappointing news for Jamie, who will spend two to three weeks on a modified training program as he recovers from a vascular issue. The positive news is that it is not a significant issue and is treatable,” Collingwood high-performance boss Jarrod Wade said.

Veteran defender Jeremy Howe will miss up to three weeks with a minor groin strain, while recruit Jack Bytel has entered the AFL’s concussion protocols following a head knock in Sunday’s win.

Young utility Harvey Harrison remains a chance to play this week against Adelaide after an ankle injury, despite some doubt for Round 10. Senior midfielders Jordan De Goey and Tom Mitchell are also tests for this week due to groin and foot issues, respectively.

Forward Beau McCreery will not return this week as he recovers from a concussion, with a return expected either next week or by Round 12. Spearhead Brody Mihocek is hopeful to return from a hamstring injury by Round 11.

Fringe players Josh Carmichael (concussion) and Aiden Begg (knee) face stints on the sidelines, with Begg’s return timeframe currently unclear due to MCL and PCL damage suffered in the VFL.
