Florida Football in Final Consideration for Top Defensive Back Mark Zackery in Class of 2025

Florida Football has been focusing on several defensive backs for the class of 2025, and the time for making decisions is approaching.

With a potential official visit coming up, one defensive back who has received an offer from the Gators is set to make his verbal commitment soon.

In February, we featured defensive back Mark Zackery when the Gators made him an offer. At that time, we noted:

“Based on film, we probably agree more with the On3 and ESPN evaluations. Zackery will play a mix of press coverage and inside technique for Ben Davis High. His size doesn’t allow him to overpower opposing wide receivers in press coverage, but he sticks to them like glue.

In off coverage, Zackery maintains fluid hips and breaks on the ball effectively when needed. He is a willing tackler, though he often relies on diving ankle tackles, which won’t always be effective in the SEC.”

247 Sports ranks him as the 59th prospect in the country, while ESPN ranks him at 257th.

Since being offered by the Gators, Zackery has not taken an unofficial visit to Gainesville, unlike the six visits he has made to in-state Notre Dame. Therefore, nearly every recruiting insider predicts that on May 25th, when he announces his verbal commitment, he will choose Notre Dame.

If Zackery commits to Notre Dame, be ready for the announcement to highlight it as “over Florida.” That’s just part of being in Gator Nation.
