Phillies’ Star Player Faces Agility Drills Amidst Injury Concerns
The Philadelphia Phillies are in top form and hope that Trea Turner can soon contribute to their success. As reported by Matt Gelb of The Athletic, Turner participated in agility drills and fielded grounders before the Phillies faced the New York Mets. Less than two weeks after suffering a left hamstring strain, his progress on the field is a positive sign.
However, Phillies manager Rob Thomson stated there is “no timeline” for Turner’s return, though he might recover faster than the initially projected six-week period.
Bryson Stott has really heated up at the plate after a slow first few weeks of the season.

### Trea Turner Undergoes Agility Drills
Turner’s left hamstring strain landed him on the 10-day injured list but did not require surgery. Reflecting on his diagnosis, Turner remarked, “It could have been a lot worse than it was. It is what it is.”
Despite a slow start in 2023, Turner is performing well this season, hitting .343/.392/.460 with two home runs, 27 runs scored, and 10 steals in 11 attempts. His strong numbers, including a .421 BABIP and a .397 wOBA, have been crucial to the Phillies’ successful start. The team has managed to maintain high offensive stats in his absence, ranking second in batting average (.260) and on-base percentage (.338), and third in slugging percentage (.418) in the National League.
### Bryson Stott Steps Up in Turner’s Absence
Turner will be pleased to see Bryson Stott stepping up as the Phillies’ hottest hitter. On Tuesday against the Mets, Stott hit a solo home run in the ninth inning to tie the game and later drove in Bryce Harper with a sacrifice fly in the 10th for a 5-4 win. Stott has been a key player, driving in 11 runs in his last eight games and reaching base in 12 of his last 19 plate appearances.
“That dude is my stud,” said Brandon Marsh. “He showed it day in and day out last year. It was only a matter of time for him to start clicking, and no better time than now.”
