Voss Braces for Major Challenge: Insights and Expectations

Senior Coach Michael Voss is acutely aware of the challenge facing the Blues at the SCG on Friday night but acknowledges that his team thrives on such opportunities.

Facing the top-of-the-ladder Swans, Voss understands the importance of the midfield battle and the difficulties of playing as the away side in hostile territory.

Here are his thoughts:

**On Sydney’s Recent Form:**

“They’ve got a lot going for them right now. Their midfield is providing significant drive and they have depth in that area.

“We believe there are still ways we can challenge them and hope to pose some questions in return.

“Our own midfield has been strong, and we’ll need to support them with extra numbers around the ball to maintain intensity. Playing against the top team brings its own set of challenges.”

**On Another Close Finish Last Week:**

“We’ve been in many close games, which can be seen as either fortunate or unfortunate.

“We often discuss stepping up in crucial moments, and we’ve learned from past experiences. That’s why we managed to win in the end. The game allowed us to integrate all phases of our play under tough conditions against a strong opponent.”

**On Jack Martin:**

“His injury is minor, but given his history, we need to carefully assess his return to play. It’s unfortunate because he’s vital for us, but the team here needs to step up tomorrow.”

**On the Challenge of Multiple Injuries:**

“It’s been a challenge we’ve been addressing for some time, and it’s quite complex.

“We tackle the problem together, and while we’ve made progress in some areas, there’s still work to be done. We focus on who is available rather than who isn’t, maintaining high expectations for effort and performance.”

**On Jacob Weitering’s Contract:**

“I’m very confident. We don’t dwell on speculation. Weitering is crucial to us, and we handle contracts privately. I’m sure he’ll be in a Carlton jumper for a long time.”

**On the Hype Around the Clash:**

“We’re privileged to play for Carlton and to have a strong supporter base everywhere we go. We’re used to big crowds and can adapt to hostile environments. We respect our opponents but remain confident in our recent performances.”

**On Indigenous Round:**

“Indigenous Round is significant, especially with Zaccy [Williams] and his cousin designing the jumper. It’s a great opportunity to learn about his story and culture, which enriches our club’s culture. I’ve even got the hat and jumper because the design is fantastic, though I might be biased.”
