Former University of Louisville Kicker John Wallace Passes Away at 31

The University of Louisville confirmed the news but did not provide details regarding the cause of death.

A native of Elizabethtown, Wallace played high school football at Central Hardin High School. He was rated as a two-star prospect by Rivals.com and had a successful senior season, converting 11 out of 14 field goal attempts.

Wallace represented the Cardinals from 2012 to 2015, playing under head coaches Charlie Strong and Bobby Petrino. During his tenure, he contributed to Louisville’s four consecutive bowl appearances, notably securing a victory over Florida in the 2013 Sugar Bowl with two field goals in the 33-23 triumph.

In his debut season in 2012, Wallace made an impressive 16 out of 21 field goals, including 10 successful attempts in his first 11 kicks of the season. His lone miss came from a 57-yard attempt. Additionally, he notably clinched a 30-yard field goal in overtime, sealing a 34-31 victory against Cincinnati.

Wallace holds the record for the most field goals made in UofL history, totaling 66 over his four-year career.

He is survived by his parents, Carla and Patrick Wallace, and pursued a major in finance during his time at UofL.
