Missouri Tigers’ 20-Year-Old Sensation Ready to Establish Himself as Top Wide Receiver Prospect in 2025 NFL Draft

Missouri Tigers wide receiver Luther Burden III had a standout sophomore season, contributing significantly to the team’s 11-2 record and 6-2 finish in SEC Conference play. As Missouri prepares for the upcoming season, they will rely on Burden III, their top playmaker, who showcased his talent with 86 receptions for 1,212 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging 14.1 yards per catch. He also demonstrated versatility by rushing for 31 yards on seven carries, averaging 4.4 yards per rush.

Standing at 5’11” and weighing 208 lbs, Burden III is poised for another successful season as he aims to replicate his past success. He would have been among the top wide receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft class, alongside players like Marvin Harrison Jr. (Ohio State), Rome Odunze (Washington), and Malik Nabers (LSU).

Looking ahead, Burden III is projected to be the top wide receiver prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. If he continues to dominate SEC competition, he could be the first wide receiver selected. Tetairoa McMillan (Arizona) and Emeka Egbuka (Ohio State) are also expected to be first-round picks in the 2025 draft.

CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso predicts Burden III to be selected ninth overall by the New Orleans Saints in the 2025 NFL Draft, citing the Saints’ need for high-caliber receiving talent. According to nfldraftbuzz.com, Burden III’s strengths include his ability to track the ball well downfield, his ball-tracking skills, and his effectiveness in working outside the numbers. However, he needs to improve as a run blocker and enhance his run-after-catch abilities.

Burden III’s potential to take over games for Missouri makes him a sought-after prospect by NFL scouts. He is expected to be a nightmare for SEC defenses this season, showcasing his ability to impact games whenever called upon.
