Robinson Relieved After Fifita Takes Cooling Off Period

Trent Robinson, the head coach of the Sydney Roosters, has expressed his relief and satisfaction after star forward David Fifita opted to take a cooling-off period to refresh and recharge.

Fifita, known for his powerful runs and strong defensive play, has been a key player for the Roosters this season. However, in recent weeks, his performance had been showing signs of fatigue and overexertion. Recognizing the importance of managing player workload and mental health, Robinson supported Fifita’s decision to step back temporarily.

In an interview, Robinson emphasized the importance of players taking breaks when needed to maintain their performance and well-being.

“I’m really glad that David decided to take some time to rest and recover,” Robinson said. “He’s been working incredibly hard on and off the field, and it’s important for players to listen to their bodies and take breaks when necessary. We want to make sure that David is in the best possible shape for the remainder of the season.”

Fifita’s decision comes as the Roosters are preparing for a crucial stretch of games that will determine their playoff position. Robinson acknowledged the challenges of managing player workload during the rigorous NRL season but reiterated the team’s commitment to supporting their players’ health.

“Managing the workload of our players is always a priority for us,” Robinson explained. “We have a great support staff that works closely with the players to monitor their fitness and well-being. David is an integral part of our team, and we want to ensure that he is ready to perform at his best when he returns.”

Fifita’s cooling-off period has allowed him to rest physically and mentally, which Robinson believes will benefit both the player and the team in the long run.

“We’ve seen David’s performances improve after taking a break in the past,” Robinson noted. “It’s important for players to have that time to recharge and refocus. We’re looking forward to having David back on the field, refreshed and ready to contribute.”
