Top Defensive Tackle Transfer Set to Visit Michigan Football
Michigan football isn’t done adding players from the transfer portal. The Wolverines have already secured four defensive backs since Thursday, but now there’s another player fans should watch out for: Brandon Lane.
Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 300 pounds, Lane is a former standout defensive tackle from Stephen F. Austin. After his sophomore season, he entered the transfer portal and initially committed to Michigan State. However, Lane and the Spartans parted ways in early May. Since then, he has visited North Carolina State, and Wisconsin is also in the running, according to Pete Nakos of On3.com. Lane, who recorded 44 tackles and 6.5 tackles for loss in 12 starts last season, is expected to visit both the Wolverines and the Badgers.
Lane is a logical fit for Michigan football. The Wolverines have expressed a need for another defensive tackle, as seen in their pursuits of CJ West and Jay’viar Suggs. Lane, known for his strength against the run, could be the right addition. With players like Kenneth Grant, Mason Graham, and Rayshaun Benny already in the lineup, Michigan needs another player to take on double teams and keep Grant and Graham fresh. Lane, who has two years of eligibility remaining, could be pitched the opportunity to become a future starter for the Wolverines.
