Breaking News: Angus Crichton Decides on 2025 NRL Team
Three NRL teams are reportedly vying for the signature of in-form back rower Angus Crichton from 2025.
Just two months ago, it seemed likely that Crichton would leave the Roosters after this season when his current contract expires. However, the 27-year-old’s blistering form has changed the landscape, with the Tricolours eager to secure him to a contract extension.
In addition to the Roosters, Crichton’s former club South Sydney has reportedly shown interest, as well as defending champions Penrith, according to News Corp.
Adding intrigue to the situation was the Roosters’ failed pursuit of David Fifita, who ultimately decided to remain with the Titans after backing out of a deal with the Bondi-based club.
Crichton has been vocal about his frustration with the Roosters’ pursuit of Fifita and how the club left him in the dark during the process. With Fifita opting to stay with the Titans, the Roosters are now keen to extend Crichton’s contract.
Crichton has been in stellar form, arguably the top back-rower in the competition over the past four to five weeks, and has emerged as a contender for a spot in the Blues squad for Game I.
Several of Crichton’s teammates, including Terrell May and Victor Radley, have publicly expressed their desire for him to remain with the Roosters.
“I have a lot of love for Angus. He had a lot of love for me when I first came here. He’s one of the day one boys that I look up to,” May said.
“I love Angus and I wish he stays but no one wants to be second to anyone, so I hope he does what’s best for him.
“I love Angus, he’s kind of the benchmark back-rower this season, especially this last month,” Radley said.
