Bruins Poised to Bolster Roster with Top Target Elias Lindholm This Offseason

The Boston Bruins are expected to have a busy summer with several contracts expiring, giving them a lot of money to work with. After a successful 2023-24 season, they are likely to push to improve their roster.

Their main goal will be to add a first-line center. While Charlie Coyle and Pavel Zacha had strong seasons, adding a true 1C would significantly benefit the team.

In Monday’s edition of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman mentioned that he believes the Bruins’ top free-agent target will be Vancouver Canucks center Elias Lindholm.

Friedman noted that the Bruins pursued Lindholm before he was traded to the Canucks this season and have had a long-standing interest in him. With Lindholm potentially becoming a free agent and the Bruins having the necessary funds, now is the perfect time for Boston to act.

Elias Lindholm #23 of the Vancouver Canucks

Lindholm, 29, had a down regular season in 2023-24 with 15 goals and 44 points in 75 games. However, he has stepped up in the postseason, recording five goals and nine points in 12 games so far.

Given Lindholm’s strong playoff performance, the Canucks may try to re-sign him before he hits the market. However, if he becomes available, expect Boston to make a strong effort to sign him.

The Bruins could use a high-impact two-way center, especially after losing Patrice Bergeron last offseason. Lindholm would provide that. Let’s see if the Bruins can land their top target this summer.
