Harrison Jones Facing Sanctions After Round 10 Matches

Harrison Jones will be absent from Essendon‘s upcoming Dreamtime at the ‘G clash against Richmond this Saturday night due to a one-match suspension. The key forward received the ban for a tackle on North Melbourne’s Zac Fisher during the second quarter of Essendon’s 40-point victory. In the incident, Jones executed a run-down tackle on Fisher, resulting in a late swinging dump that caused Fisher’s head to make contact with the ground.

The tackle was deemed as careless conduct with medium impact and high contact, leading to the one-match suspension. Consequently, Jones will miss the highly anticipated Dreamtime at the ‘G fixture against Richmond, unless Essendon decides to challenge the verdict, which seems probable.

Meanwhile, North Melbourne forward Paul Curtis faced sanctions for tripping Essendon’s Ben Hobbs in the third quarter of the same match. Curtis is set to be fined $1250 with an early plea, or $1875 if he contests the decision unsuccessfully.

In the intense clash between Port Adelaide and Hawthorn at Adelaide Oval, several charges were issued, with two directed at Brownlow Medal hopeful Zak Butters. Butters received a $3125 sanction for involvement in a first-quarter melee, which could be reduced to $1875 with an early plea. Additionally, he faced a $10000 fine for rough conduct on Hawthorn’s Lloyd Meek during the third quarter. The match review officer assessed the incident as intentional with low impact to the body, with an early plea reducing the fine to $6250.

Jack Ginnivan from Hawthorn was also reprimanded for his involvement in the first-quarter melee, likely resulting in a $1250 fine. Lastly, Willem Drew of Port Adelaide was offered a $2500 early plea for careless rough conduct with low impact and high contact on Hawthorn’s Jai Newcombe.
