Louisville Cardinals Secure Transfer Commitment from BYU Forward Noah Waterman

What Noah Waterman Brings to Louisville Basketball

In recent days, head coach Pat Kelsey and the Louisville men’s basketball program have actively worked to strengthen their frontcourt. On Saturday, they secured another valuable addition for this area of the team.

Noah Waterman, who played the last two seasons at BYU, is transferring to Louisville to finish his college career as a Cardinal. He becomes the 11th transfer commitment for Kelsey since his hiring on March 28, and the 12th commitment overall.

Standing at 6 feet 11 inches and weighing 210 pounds, Waterman played a significant role in BYU’s success. In the past season, he started in nearly all of the Cougars’ 34 games, averaging 9.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He boasted a shooting percentage of 45.7 from the field and a three-point percentage of 37.0, ranking second on the team.

Originally from Savannah, New York, Waterman began his college career at Niagara before transferring to Detroit Mercy for two seasons and then to BYU. In a total of 110 games and 81 starts across his previous three stops, he has accumulated 861 points and 448 rebounds, with a career shooting split of 44.9/38.9/67.9.

Apart from his statistics, Waterman brings versatility to the Cardinals. He excels as a stretch four, being a consistent threat from beyond the arc. His shooting percentages from various spots on the court demonstrate his proficiency in three-point shooting, making him a valuable asset in the team’s offensive schemes.

Additionally, Waterman is effective inside the arc, demonstrating skill in finishing around the rim. While he may not draw much contact, he showcases agility and scoring ability in different offensive sets.

Defensively, Waterman’s length and positioning make him a formidable presence, particularly in rebounding. Although his defense may not be as advanced as his offense, he contributes positively to the team’s defensive efforts.

Overall, Waterman’s addition strengthens Louisville’s frontcourt and aligns well with Kelsey’s offensive system. His versatility and skill set make him a valuable asset to the team as they prepare for the upcoming season.
