Milan Lucic’s Return to Boston Ends in Tragedy and Uncertainty
Milan Lucic Allegedly Strangled Wife in Front of Children, Case Details Emerge
Milan Lucic was a menacing and intimidating player in the National Hockey League for many years, especially with the Boston Bruins. He had several strong seasons with the Bruins before moving to Alberta to play for the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames, where his performance declined significantly.
Last summer, as a free agent, Lucic signed a one-year contract with the Bruins, returning to Boston where he had previously found much success. However, things did not go as planned.
Why didn’t they?
It turns out that Lucic’s troubling behavior extended off the ice. The NHL tough guy was arrested for domestic violence several months ago, leading to his suspension from playing any more games with the Bruins this season.

Recently, more details have emerged about the case. Lucic’s wife, Brittany Lucic, revealed that he strangled her in front of their children.
Yes, you read that correctly. Unfortunately, Milan Lucic allegedly attacked his wife after she noticed a friend’s name on his phone. When she questioned him, Lucic allegedly jumped on her to take the phone away. Brittany stumbled into a chair, and Lucic attempted to strangle her—all in front of their children and several friends.
In April, Brittany filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Ultimately, Lucic did not go to trial because his wife refused to testify, but he is unlikely to return to the NHL.
He played just four games this season with the Bruins, recording two assists.
