Cutting Edge – Collingwood’s injury crisis deepens

Collingwood
Despite an unbeaten streak in their last seven games, Collingwood’s injury crisis is deepening. Jordan De Goey (abdomen), Will Hoskin-Elliott (hamstring), and Reef McInnes (concussion) are out. Brody Mihocek (hamstring) and Beau McCreery (concussion) might return if they pass fitness tests. The Magpies will also miss Jamie Elliott (vascular), Jeremy Howe (groin), and Tom Mitchell (foot). Debuts have been confirmed for Ed Allan and Wil Parker.

Richmond
Richmond is struggling with a slew of injuries, leaving them with only 24 fit players. Rhyan Mansell (concussion) and Mykelti Lefau (jaw) are out, with Jacob Koschitzke, Samson Ryan, and Kaleb Smith likely to come in. Liam Baker, Sam Banks, Jacob Bauer, Seth Campbell, and James Trezise face fitness tests and could be included.

Western Bulldogs
The Bulldogs are likely to stick with their current lineup after a strong road win against GWS. Caleb Daniel, who was a substitute, might make way for Ryley Sanders or Caleb Poulter, who impressed in the VFL. Jedd Busslinger is pushing for a debut, while Tom Liberatore is expected to return from concussion in a couple of weeks.

Sydney
Robbie Fox (shoulder) is the only likely out for Sydney, with Matt Roberts set to replace him after being managed last week. Luke Parker will be out for six weeks following a VFL suspension.

Fremantle
The Dockers, coming off an impressive win against the Saints, will be without Michael Frederick (concussion) after a hit from Saint Jimmy Webster. Patrick Voss’s position might be under threat with Sean Darcy’s return imminent. Neil Erasmus is pushing for a senior spot after strong WAFL performances.

North Melbourne
Captain Jy Simpkin (quad) is out for another two weeks, and Miller Bergman (hamstring) is also sidelined. Kallan Dawson is likely to return after an ankle issue. Will Phillips could be recalled after an impressive VFL showing.

Port Adelaide
Captain Connor Rozee returns from a hamstring strain, while Ollie Wines is available despite recent heart palpitations. Charlie Dixon will be managed, and Josh Sinn is out for six weeks with a collarbone injury. Jordon Sweet might replace Dante Visentini in the ruck.

Carlton
Carlton is monitoring the fitness of Jacob Weitering (thigh) and has ruled out Marc Pittonet (finger). Adam Saad, Jesse Motlop, Sam Durdin, and Lachie Fogarty face fitness tests. Corey Durdin and Orazio Fantasia might be under pressure at selection.

Gold Coast
Gold Coast will likely recall ruckman Jarrod Witts, potentially at the expense of Ned Moyle. Jack Lukosius’s form up forward may limit the return of Nick Holman and Jed Walter. Alex Davies or Sam Day could be the ones to make way for any changes.

Geelong
Jeremy Cameron (concussion) and Tom Hawkins (managed) will return after being missed against Gold Coast. Mitch Duncan and Rhys Stanley are also expected back. Patrick Dangerfield (hamstring) is still a week away. Shannon Neale and Toby Conway may be dropped to accommodate returning players.

GWS Giants
GWS adds Jack Buckley (calf) and Darcy Jones (hamstring) to their injury list. Leek Aleer should replace Buckley, while James Peatling is likely to return. Phoenix Gothard could debut following a strong VFL performance.

Essendon
Darcy Parish (calf) remains out, and Sam Durham faces a test for his ankle. Nate Caddy will debut for suspended forward Harrison Jones. Jordan Ridley could return to the seniors after playing in the VFL.

Hawthorn
Captain James Sicily will return after missing recent games, with Jai Serong potentially making way. Seamus Mitchell’s selection could be in doubt. Henry Hustwaite is also fit for selection.

Brisbane
Eric Hipwood is suspended for one game, with Darcy Fort likely replacing him. Zac Bailey (ankle) is fit, and Jarryd Lyons and James Tunstill are pressing for inclusion.

Melbourne
Jake Lever (knee) is out for a month, with Adam Tomlinson set to replace him. Jacob van Rooyen (concussion) is available and may replace Harrison Petty. Ben Brown might be dropped after a low-disposal game.

St Kilda
Jack Higgins returns from a three-game suspension, while Mattaes Phillipou, Lance Collard, Cooper Sharman, and Zak Jones face selection scrutiny. Brad Crouch and Hugo Garcia are likely inclusions after strong VFL performances. Hunter Clark is also in line for a senior return.

Adelaide
Izak Rankine (hamstring) and Elliott Himmelberg (cheekbone) are out. Chris Burgess is likely to replace Himmelberg, while Luke Pedlar and Sam Berry are potential cover for Rankine.

West Coast
Elliot Yeo (groin) returns, with Tyrell Dewar and Luke Edwards at risk of being dropped. Matt Flynn will finally make his WAFL debut after an injury-plagued season.
