
The LA Galaxy announced that midfielder Riqui Puig successfully underwent ACL reconstructive surgery on his left knee. The procedure was performed by Dr. Ramón Cugat at the Quirónsalud Barcelona Hospital in Spain.

Puig sustained the injury during the second half of the 1-0 victory over Seattle Sounders FC in the Western Conference Final on November 30. Despite the torn ACL, Puig played over thirty minutes and provided the assist for Dejan Joveljić’s game-winning goal in the 85th minute.
The 24-year-old from Matadepera, Spain, had an impressive 2024 season, recording 37 goal contributions (17 goals, 20 assists) in 36 matches (34 starts) across all competitions for the LA Galaxy. During the Audi 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs, he scored four goals and assisted four others in four games (all starts). He finished the MLS regular season with 16 goals and 14 assists in 29 matches (28 starts).
In his two and a half seasons with the Galaxy (2022-present), Puig has accumulated 29 goals and 32 assists in 82 matches (79 starts). He was recently named to the 2024 MLS Best XI and played a key role in the Galaxy’s sixth MLS Cup win.
