19-Year-Old Star Considered by Lakers’ Top Rival as 1st-Round Pick
Before his performance at the annual event, most teams viewed James as an undrafted free agent. The former USC star and son of NBA legend LeBron James is now being seriously considered as a first-round pick in next month’s draft in Brooklyn.
Part of this interest may stem from teams hoping to attract LeBron James, who could opt out of his contract and enter NBA free agency this summer. LeBron has often discussed the possibility of playing alongside his son.
While LeBron’s focus may now be more on winning as his career winds down, this remains a factor. Hence, the latest reports.

Phoenix Suns considering Bronny James with first-round pick in NBA Draft
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on Friday that the Suns will conduct a workout with James before the draft. According to the NBA insider, he’s among several players being considered for the No. 22 overall pick by Phoenix.
From an on-court perspective, this doesn’t make much sense for Phoenix. The team, recently swept in the first round by the Minnesota Timberwolves, needs win-now players to complement its core trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. James doesn’t quite fit this requirement.
Bronny James’ stats (2023-24 with USC): 4.8 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 2.1 APG, 37% shooting
The younger James is viewed as a significant project, with most teams expecting he’ll need at least one season in the NBA G-League. So, why would the Suns use a first-round pick on such a prospect? Could it really be an attempt to lure LeBron to Phoenix?
