Five-Star Recruit Linkon Cure Talks Kansas Visit and Recruitment Journey

Linkon Cure is recognized as one of the top high school football recruits in the nation. The Goodland native recently earned five-star status from 247Sports and is navigating a competitive recruitment process. He has offers from various programs but has narrowed his focus to Kansas, Kansas State, Texas A&M, and Oregon, planning to visit each school officially this summer before making a final decision.

In a podcast with 247Sports’ Ryan Wallace on Wednesday night, Cure discussed his recruitment and each school involved. Here are his thoughts on KU:

**On his brother, Leyton Cure, joining the KU team:**

“A bit of it was my brother; we’ve been competing our whole lives, so why not play together for once? But I wouldn’t say that’s a major factor. I believe in Kansas football. Many people doubt it, but being there, you feel the program’s alignment. The right guys, the right coaching staff, and my amazing relationships with everyone there make it a legit program still on the rise. I’m excited for them.”

**On his relationship with Jeff Grimes following Andy Kotelnicki’s departure:**

“We had to start over, but Coach Grimes and I clicked immediately. He’s a great guy and an amazing coach, but more importantly, he’s a better person. We have normal conversations beyond football. After our state championship loss, he was one of the people I had a heartfelt conversation with. That meant a lot to me.”

**On Leyton’s involvement during his visit:**

“I think he’ll be pretty involved, trying to get me with him, but I hope he stays out of it too much. He might convince me, but we’ll see. He’s here in Goodland now. The OV worked well because he’ll probably move up that weekend too, so it’ll be fun.”

**On his relationship with the Kansas staff and what he wants to see on the visit:**

“I have all the information I need, even a four-year plan. I want to go down there and get *that* feeling that would make me decide. I’ve felt that for some schools in my top four, and I want to see if KU gives me that same feeling.”
