Michigan Football Makes Key Move in Recruiting Top 2026 QB

The Michigan football team recently won the national championship and hopes to leverage this success for positive recruiting momentum. Although it’s early in the 2025 recruiting cycle and the outcomes remain uncertain, Michigan is actively pursuing top talent for the 2026 class. One notable target is Brady Smigiel, a top-five quarterback prospect who plans to visit Ann Arbor in June.

Michigan hasn’t faced quarterback concerns in recent seasons thanks to JJ McCarthy, but this year, five players are competing for the starting position, with four being serious contenders. Ensuring a strong QB recruit for 2026 is crucial, and Michigan is focused on landing Smigiel, who will visit from June 18-20, according to Brice Marich.

Smigiel, ranked as the #5 QB and #51 overall player in the 2026 class by 247 Sports, is eager to explore Michigan’s program and meet the coaching staff. His visit will be significant for new offensive coordinator and QB coach Kirk Campbell as the Wolverines aim to secure top talent early in the 2026 recruiting cycle.

While Michigan is making strides in the 2026 class, they also have work to do for the 2025 class, currently ranked 40th nationally with five four-star commits. With an average player rating of 92.23, Michigan is poised to improve its ranking as they continue to attract and secure commitments from highly regarded prospects considering Ann Arbor.
