“Notre Dame Football Lands Big Catch Mark Zackery Commits to Boost Defensive Backfield”
“Notre Dame Football Bolsters Top-Class Status with Mark Zackery’s Commitment”
The Notre Dame football program secured another significant addition to its already stellar 2025 recruiting class. Mark Zackery, the highly sought-after defensive back and the top player in Indiana, announced his commitment on Saturday, becoming the 22nd prospect to join the class. Remarkably, this commitment comes in May, highlighting the program’s early success in recruiting.
Zackery had previously narrowed down his choices to four schools: Florida, Michigan, Cincinnati, and Notre Dame. Ultimately, he opted to stay close to home and play for the Fighting Irish. During his announcement, Zackery expressed his strong connection to Notre Dame, stating that he never considered playing anywhere else.
Interestingly, Zackery revealed that he informed Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman of his decision three weeks prior to his official announcement. The Fighting Irish had been aggressively pursuing Zackery since offering him a scholarship in May 2023. His commitment represents another significant victory for the program on the recruiting trail, solidifying Notre Dame’s continued success in attracting top talent.
