Texas Longhorns Welcome New Commitment from 3-Star Offensive Lineman
Over the past couple of years, Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns’ football program have been methodically building their way back to being serious National Championship contenders. After a period when the Longhorns weren’t taken seriously, the program has been completely revitalized.
Sarkisian has made significant strides through both high school recruiting and the transfer portal. The landscape of college football has shifted with the transfer portal, but this change has been particularly advantageous for the Longhorns.
On Monday, the Longhorns secured another crucial commitment, this time adding an offensive lineman to their 2025 recruiting class.
Texas Longhorns Secure Commitment From 3-Star Offensive Lineman
According to a post on X by three-star offensive lineman Jackson Christian, he has committed to playing college football at Texas.
“After a lot of thought I am blessed to say, I am officially committing to The University of Texas. I want to thank all the coaches that recruited me throughout this process. Hook’em horns🤘🏼🤘🏼@KJJFlood @CoachSark @loganwilson11 @CoachJosephPNG @ScaryMcCrary,” Christian tweeted on May 14, 2024.
Christian, from Port Neches-Grove, chose Texas over several other top schools. Besides Texas, he had offers from Texas A&M, SMU, Texas Tech, Colorado State, Houston, and North Texas.
At 6-foot-5 and 290 pounds, Christian is a formidable presence on the line. He is the first offensive lineman to commit to the Texas Longhorns’ 2025 recruiting class.
Other recruits committed to the Longhorns in this class include quarterback K.J. Lacey, running back Rickey Stewart, tight end Emaree Winston, defensive tackle Brandon Brown, linebacker Elijah Barnes, and edge rusher Lance Jackson.
Before Christian’s commitment, the Longhorns held the No. 10 ranked recruiting class in the nation for 2025, according to On3 Team Recruiting Rankings. His addition will likely boost their standing in these rankings.
In other recruiting news, the Longhorns are awaiting the decision of four-star running back James Simon, another 2025 target, who will announce his choice on May 29th. Securing Simon would be another significant step for the future of the Texas offense.
Overall, this is an excellent move for Sarkisian and the Longhorns. Christian adds a significant presence and immense potential to an already dominant offensive line.
