“Bronco for Life: Origin Selection Could Lead to Major Brisbane Deal as Walsh Shares Contract Intentions”

Maroons fullback Reece Walsh has expressed his desire to remain with the Brisbane Broncos for life, confident that his contract negotiations will be finalized before he officially becomes a free agent on November 1.

At 21, Walsh has rapidly become one of the game’s biggest stars, leading the Broncos to the grand final last year and establishing himself as a top player. His popularity among fans and respect from rivals make him a key asset that the Broncos are eager to secure long-term before other clubs can make offers.

In a significant show of commitment, Walsh confirmed on Tuesday his intention to re-sign with the Broncos, attributing much of his success to the club. “The Broncos are a massive part of me being here (in Origin) and I love the club. I want to be here for a long time and all that (contract) stuff will get sorted,” he stated.

When asked about his desire to be a Bronco for life, Walsh replied: “Yep, 100 percent. I love the club, I followed them as a kid and all that stuff will get sorted out when it gets sorted out. I love the people involved in the club and what they stand for. They (the Broncos) have amazing values.”

He praised the club’s city, fans, and overall environment, emphasizing how these factors make playing and training enjoyable.

Walsh’s growth at the Broncos has been significantly influenced by sessions with Queensland coach Billy Slater, who has transformed fullback play. The duo has worked closely in the Maroons camp, with Walsh being a central figure in the team’s strategy to secure a third consecutive series win.

“His detail around everything is pretty crazy, so it’s awesome just to get things about your body position, the way your shoulder should be, the way your hips should be,” Walsh remarked about Slater. He appreciates the opportunity to learn from the best, valuing the coaching and mentorship from Slater as a unique and enriching experience.
