Cowboys Secure New Deal with Front-Rower

The North Queensland Cowboys have announced the re-signing of front-rower Thomas Mikaele for the next two seasons, with a club option for a third season.

Mikaele, who joined the Cowboys on a development contract earlier this season, has made a significant impact since his debut in Round 8 against the Canberra Raiders. A former player for the Wests Tigers and Gold Coast Titans, Mikaele also spent time in the Super League before joining the Queensland side.

Under his new contract, Mikaele will be part of the Cowboys’ Top 30 roster for 2025 and 2026, with the club holding an option to extend his contract through 2027.

“Tom has impressed us at every turn since arriving in North Queensland,” said Cowboys General Manager of Football Micheal Luck.

“He has unfinished business in the NRL, evident in his preparation, training, and game-day performance. His professionalism and determination are highly valued at our club. Tom brings a unique skillset, particularly his ability to create second-phase play, and we are thrilled to secure him long-term.”
