Port Adelaide’s Skipper Rozee Ruled Out for Showdown Against Carlton Due to Injury

Carlton head coach Michael Voss downplays the impact of Port Adelaide captain Connor Rozee’s absence ahead of their crucial clash on Thursday night, emphasizing the focus on their own game plan.

The decision to sideline Rozee, nursing an ankle sprain sustained in last week’s victory over North Melbourne, doesn’t alter Voss’s approach. He stresses the importance of their team’s performance over individual matchups.

“In every strong team, there’s a collective effort and a well-defined system,” Voss conveyed to reporters in Adelaide. “While one player may step out, another will seamlessly step in and contribute. Our focus remains on executing our game plan effectively, regardless of who lines up for Port.

Port Adelaide also faces setbacks with Willie Rioli out due to a calf injury, and Jordon Sweet omitted. In their place, Ivan Soldo returns after a knee injury layoff, alongside Francis Evans.

With Port sitting third on the ladder and Carlton trailing closely in eighth, Voss expects a fierce contest centered around contested football, a trait both sides prioritize.

“Fundamentals like contests and pressure remain paramount,” Voss emphasized. “These elements lay the foundation for our game plan’s success. As we step onto Adelaide Oval, we’re prepared for the challenge against a formidable opponent.”
