Super League Switch-Up: Esan Marsters Joins Salford Red Devils for Thrilling 2025 Season!

Former NRL centre and five-eighth Esan Marsters has inked a new deal, setting sights on the 2025 season with a different team.

Opting to remain in the Super League, Marsters bids farewell to the Huddersfield Giants and embarks on a new journey with the Salford Red Devils, signing a three-year contract extending till the culmination of the 2027 season.

Having made the move overseas in 2022, Marsters previously showcased his skills in the NRL with stints at the Wests Tigers (2017-19), North Queensland Cowboys (2020-21), and Gold Coast Titans (2021-22), accumulating 86 first-grade appearances and 276 points along the way.

Best known for his time with the Tigers, Marsters made significant contributions, including over 3000 total running meters in 2018, a feat unmatched by any other centre that season. Despite acclaim from pundits, his tenure ended the following year.

Expressing his gratitude and excitement for the new chapter, Marsters conveyed his enthusiasm in a statement released by the club, affirming his commitment to representing the Salford Red Devils with dedication and integrity, aligning with the club’s values and community spirit.

In addition to his club endeavors, Marsters has also represented the Cook Islands and New Zealand internationally, amassing a total of 14 caps for both nations. Notably, he featured for the Cook Islands in the recently postponed Rugby League World Cup in 2022, alongside cousin Steven Marsters and Cronulla Sharks’ centre Kayal Iro, a consecutive recipient of the NSW Cup Centre of the Year award.

Welcoming Marsters into the fold, Salford Red Devils head coach Paul Rowley hailed him as a valuable addition to the team, emphasizing his versatility and ability to bolster the backline. Rowley expressed anticipation in witnessing Marsters flourish in Salford’s colors and extended warm wishes for his ongoing season endeavors.
