Breaking News: 4-star RB criticizes Oklahoma after committing to Texas

The Texas football team secured a major commitment from four-star running back James Simon on Wednesday. Simon is the second running back to join the Longhorns’ 2025 recruiting class and their 10th overall commit. Texas has yet to land any five-star recruits but has secured seven four-stars and three three-stars. Their 2025 class currently ranks 13th nationally, with plenty of time left in the recruiting cycle.

Simon expressed his excitement for the Red River Rivalry and took a jab at Oklahoma, saying, “SEC takeover sucks to be a Sooner HOOK EM.”

Texas and Oklahoma are both transitioning to the SEC next season, part of a broader realignment in college football that sees significant changes across conferences.

According to 247 Sports, Simon is a four-star recruit, ranked #200 overall in the 2025 class, the #13 running back, and the #4 player in Louisiana. He attends Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport and had offers from several prestigious schools before choosing Texas.

Texas is gearing up for a significant year as they join the SEC, returning much of their talent from a successful College Football Playoff team. The Longhorns, who won the Big 12 in their final season there, face a tougher schedule in 2024, including a road game against defending national champions Michigan in week two. The upcoming season will be a true test of their ability to compete at the highest level in college football.
