Dj Lagway’s Influence Elevates Antwann Hill’s Recruitment Journey During Official Visit!

Headlining Florida’s official visitor list over the weekend was Antwann Hill, a four-star QB prospect from Houston County High School in Warner Robins, Georgia, in the 2025 class. Although the Gators recently secured a commitment from another highly touted QB prospect, Will Griffin, for the 2026 class, they remain keen on adding a QB for the 2025 class.

Hill’s first official visit to Gainesville significantly boosted Florida’s standing in his recruitment process. “After this visit, they’re very high,” Hill remarked. “It really showed what Florida has to offer and just my opportunity at Florida.

One of the highlights of Hill’s visit was spending time with freshman QB DJ Lagway, who was the top overall QB in the 2024 class. “Most definitely being with him [Lagway],” Hill emphasized. “Just getting all of the wisdom from him. Hanging out with him and the guys, hanging out with him and the team. That was all just fun.”

Down to two final schools, Hill is considering Memphis and Florida. He has a visit scheduled to Memphis on June 7th, which will be his last visit before making a decision. “Just coach [Ryan] Silverfield and Coach [Tim] Cramsey,” Hill explained what he likes about Memphis. “The opportunity that’s presented. Getting to play early, and trying to develop early, and get ready for the league. That really stands out with Memphis.”

Although Memphis initially appeared to be recruiting him harder, Florida has intensified its efforts in recent weeks as they seek their quarterback for the 2025 class. “Florida has definitely picked it up,” Hill acknowledged.

Hill plans to commit on his birthday, July 13th. His decision will be based on which school can best develop him and help him reach the National Football League. “Quarterback development,” Hill emphasized, “and does it feel like I’m at home?”

During his visit, Florida laid out a comprehensive developmental plan for Hill. “They put out a plan for me,” Hill noted. “They laid out how it would look these next couple of years if I come to Florida. They laid it out pretty good.”

Hill, who posted a 9-3 record during his junior campaign in 2023, leading Houston County to the second round of Georgia’s AAAAAA playoffs, has demonstrated impressive stats, completing 65.1% of his passes for 2,732 yards with 31 TDs and 5 INTs, while adding three rushing touchdowns.
