LAFC Captain Ilie Sánchez Featured in “Celebrating Impact”…

LAFC midfielder Ilie Sánchez is being featured in the “Celebrating Impact” content series, co-produced by Audi of America, Major League Soccer, and The Players’ Tribune, for his contributions to community progress.

The series will spotlight Sánchez’s chosen causes through articles, videos, and social media across The Players’ Tribune and MLS channels, amplifying his voice and raising awareness for his favored charities.

Sánchez has a history of community involvement, notably with the Special Olympics’ Unified Teams. He received the Neal and Jeanne Patterson Humanitarian of the Year award in 2019 and 2021 with Sporting Kansas City.

Recently, he has supported the inaugural LAFC Special Olympics Unified Team by attending events and trainings, advocating for universal inclusion in sports. His social impact work emphasizes inclusivity regardless of ability, ethnicity, age, religion, or gender identity.

“Being a voice for positive social change is such an important part of my life,” Sánchez said. “It is an honor to be featured in the Celebrating Impact content series, and I’m fortunate to have the platform to help inspire and make a positive impact. I’m committed to giving back to the Los Angeles community.”

In recognition of Sánchez’s efforts, Audi will contribute $40,000 through the Audi Goals Drive Progress fund to support Special Olympics Southern California and their unified soccer teams.

Audi’s commitment to community projects will be further highlighted with the return of the Audi Goals Drive Progress Impact Award, providing a $150,000 contribution to the winner’s chosen charity, presented during the MLS Cup.

Since 2019, the Audi Goals Drive Progress initiative has funded $5 million to support MLS academies and player-selected charities, enhancing the development and impact of young players both on and off the field.
