Notre Dame football QB recruit openly discusses the ‘business’ aspect of the sport.
Despite securing a commitment from 2026 quarterback Noah Grubbs, the buzz this weekend revolves around Notre Dame’s 2025 quarterback commit, Deuce Knight. Concerns among Irish fans have risen due to a Crystal Ball prediction hinting at Knight possibly flipping to Ole Miss. During the Irish Invasion event in South Bend, Knight briefly addressed the rumors, offering candid remarks that may not fully reassure ND fans.
The silver lining is Knight’s frequent visits to South Bend, indicating his interest in the program. However, his comments didn’t quash the Ole Miss speculation but rather confirmed their pursuit.
Citing the “business” nature of college football, Knight acknowledged the SEC school’s appeal after participating in the Irish Invasion. Speaking to Kyle Kelly of On3, Knight praised Ole Miss and Coach Lane Kiffin, highlighting Kiffin’s offensive expertise and willingness to start freshmen, noting, “They let me know that they are not going to stop until I sign, until I put pen to paper.”
Knight reassured his commitment to Notre Dame but emphasized the unpredictable nature of college football. “College football is a business,” he told Kelly. “You never know what crazy things could happen. It’s life. It’s crazy.”
While Notre Dame fans might not relish hearing this, it’s a reality they must brace for as the recruitment battle continues.
