Fabrizio Romano’s transfer update on 29-year-old star
The Greek international striker, who departed Celtic to join MLS side Atlanta United in January 2023, is being targeted by Mexico City’s Cruz Azul.
According to Romano, Cruz Azul has submitted a formal bid of $10 million plus add-ons to Atlanta United. Romano also reports that the 29-year-old former Celtic striker is eager to make the move.
There are indications that contract extension negotiations with Atlanta United have stalled. This situation echoes what happened at Celtic, where he signed a long-term contract and then sought improved terms shortly after. While he has been relatively successful at the MLS side, he has also faced injury concerns.

Atlanta may be open to selling their striker if the offer is right, especially with discussions of a squad rebuild underway. There is no information yet on whether there is a sell-on clause in his transfer from Celtic, but this is a situation worth monitoring.
