Pittsburgh Adds Delaware to 2029 Football Slate

The University of Delaware has announced that the Pittsburgh Panthers will be added to their 2029 football schedule.

Pittsburgh will host Delaware at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Saturday, September 1, 2029. This game will mark the third meeting between the two schools on the football field.

Their first encounter took place in 2014, where Pitt defeated Delaware 62-0. Five years later, in 2019, the Panthers narrowly won 17-14 over the Blue Hens. Both games were held at Heinz Field, now known as Acrisure Stadium.

Currently competing in the Coastal Athletic Association in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), the Delaware Blue Hens are set to move up to the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and will join Conference USA in 2025, becoming a full FBS member in 2026.

With the addition of Delaware, Pittsburgh has finalized all four non-conference opponents for the 2029 season. The Panthers will also host the West Virginia Mountaineers on September 8, and travel to face the UCF Knights on September 15. Pitt will conclude their non-conference slate at home against the Richmond Spiders on September 22.

Delaware is the third announced non-conference opponent for Pittsburgh in 2029. Additionally, the Blue Hens are scheduled to host the Buffalo Bulls on September 15 and visit the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on September 22.

Previously, Delaware was slated to host in-state rival Delaware State in 2029, but the status of that game remains uncertain.

Delaware now has six future games scheduled against power opponents, including visits to Colorado and Wake Forest in 2025, Virginia in 2026, Penn State in 2027, Maryland in 2028, and Pittsburgh in 2029.
