Verstappen Disheartened by Red Bull elongate Perez’s F1 Deal
Perez’s arrival in 2021 coincided with Red Bull returning to genuine championship contention, and the team has dominated since F1 switched to ground effect cars in 2022.
Verstappen has been vocal about wanting Red Bull’s setup to remain unchanged amid tensions that arose from an earlier investigation into team boss Christian Horner.
With Verstappen contracted until 2028, Perez’s new deal ensures that the Austrian team will maintain an unchanged driver lineup heading into F1’s rules reset in 2026.
Verstappen expressed satisfaction that Perez will continue alongside him in the coming seasons as he seeks to add to his three Drivers’ titles.
“It’s fantastic news that Checo has signed with the team until 2026, and I’m glad to continue our successful partnership over the past few years,” Verstappen said.
“We had a record-breaking season last year, and the team is very strong, so we look forward to building on this success in the next two years as well.”

Verstappen enters the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend aiming to rebound from a tough weekend in Monaco last time out that saw him finish sixth.
Red Bull’s difficulties stemmed from its RB20 car struggling to handle bumps and kerbs, a longstanding issue that Verstappen believes has been exposed.
Verstappen, who holds a 31-point lead over Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, revealed he has been working closely with the team during the break to address these issues.
“After a challenging weekend in Monaco, this week I’ve been at the factory with the team and in the simulator preparing for the Canadian Grand Prix,” he said.
“The track is unique, with old-school kerbs and plenty of overtaking opportunities. It’s crucial to have a good car setup and find a balance between straight-line speed and stability under braking.”
