Most recently, Justin Herbert became a victim of an injury.

Due to an index finger fracture, the Los Angeles Chargers signal-caller is out for the season.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports that Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert will miss the rest of the 2023 regular season due to surgery for a fractured right index finger.

Herbert left Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos in the second quarter due to a finger injury. Easton Stick took his position, and it is anticipated that he will continue to start for the Los Angeles Raiders on Thursday night.

The Chargers’ disappointing season is topped off with the Herbert injury. Los Angeles dropped to a 5-8 record with their fourth loss in five games, a 24-7 setback to Denver. Even if it improved under new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, the Chargers offense hasn’t been able to save one of the worst defenses in the league. In terms of defensive EPA/Play, Los Angeles is ranked 25th after losing to the Broncos on Sunday.

The fourth-year quarterback for the Chargers is just the latest addition to an astonishingly long list of starting signal-callers who have missed time with injuries. In his fourth play of the season while wearing a Jets uniform, Aaron Rodgers was knocked out. Another 2020 draft class graduate Over the season, Joe Burrow missed time due to a number of ailments. Injuries have also kept Derek Carr, Justin Fields, Kyler Murray, Kirk Cousins, and Daniel Jones out of action.

This season, the Chargers offense has also been particularly afflicted by the injury bug. While wide receiver Mike Williams was declared out of the season due to an ACL tear, running back Austin Ekeler and wide out Josh Palmer have also missed extended periods of time.
