Broncos Await Return of 3 Key Players at Mandatory Minicamp

The Denver Broncos will return to the practice field on Tuesday, June 11 for their mandatory minicamp, marking an important week of practices. One of the main reasons for excitement is that all practices will be open to the media, allowing for extensive coverage in mid-June on the progress of various Denver Broncos players, including those who may have missed some or all of the voluntary OTAs.

A number of notable Broncos players are expected to return to the field this week. Here are three key players to keep an eye on as the team prepares with what could be nearly a full 90-man roster:

Denver Broncos

1. Courtland Sutton, WR
Courtland Sutton’s return this offseason has been eagerly awaited, as the veteran team captain had been absent due to a contract dispute. Sutton confirmed last week on the DNVR Broncos podcast that he will indeed be returning for mandatory minicamp. This will give Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix, as well as all three quarterbacks, the opportunity to practice with the team’s top receiver.

Sutton mentioned in the DNVR interview that it has been difficult for him to miss practices, but he understands the business side of the NFL. Although Sutton does not yet have a new contract, he has decided not to pay fines to make his point. His stance is clear, and his agent will now work to reach an agreement with the team.

2. Greg Dulcich, TE
Greg Dulcich has struggled with hamstring issues since entering the league and reportedly underwent foot surgery this offseason, keeping him out at the start of OTAs. However, Broncos head coach Sean Payton stated during OTAs that Dulcich is close to returning to the field, and media present at OTAs noted that Dulcich has been practicing on the side field, suggesting he is nearing a return.

There is considerable excitement surrounding Lucas Krull at the tight end position, but a healthy Greg Dulcich would significantly enhance the Denver Broncos’ offense.

3. Riley Moss, CB
Riley Moss, a third-round pick in 2023, is only in his second year in the NFL but is firmly in contention for the second cornerback spot opposite Pat Surtain II. Moss was sidelined last week due to a back issue, according to head coach Sean Payton, though Payton did not appear overly concerned about it.

Moss is now wearing the #21 jersey, and the team hopes he can emulate Aqib Talib’s ability to attack the football in the air and make big plays. Payton and the Broncos’ staff will need to be cautious with Moss’s back issues, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see him back on the field and competing during mandatory minicamp.
