Nikolas Dyhr Set to Make Triumphant Return to St. Louis CITY

St. Louis CITY SC has bolstered their defensive lineup with the addition of left back Nikolas Dyhr from Danish Superliga leaders Midtjylland, as announced on Monday during the winter transfer market.

Dyhr, a talented 22-year-old and former Danish youth international, has inked a contract with St. Louis through the 2026 MLS season, with an option for 2027. This acquisition follows St. Louis’ earlier offseason acquisition of right back Tomas Totland from Swedish Allsvenskan side BK Häcken.

Sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel expressed enthusiasm about Dyhr’s arrival, stating, “We are excited to add Nikolas to our backline. At just 22, he has won titles at both the youth and senior level in Denmark and has gained valuable experience in Europa and Champions League competitions. His versatility in both defensive and offensive phases on the left side of the field will be instrumental in our style of play.”

Having featured in 103 matches for Midtjylland, Dyhr brings a wealth of experience, contributing with 3 goals and 8 assists for the club, alongside loan spells at Danish side AC Horsens and Belgian club KV Kortrijk. He has also represented Denmark extensively at the youth level.

In St. Louis, Dyhr joins Anthony Markanich as another option at left back. Additionally, central defender Kyle Hiebert can provide cover in that position, while Selmir Pidro is currently on loan at FC Zlín in the Czech Republic.

Looking ahead to the 2024 season, St. Louis anticipates their Concacaf Champions Cup debut following an impressive inaugural year where they secured the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. Their regular season kicks off on February 24 against Real Salt Lake at 8:30 pm ET.
