Reds’ Rising Star Noelvi Marte Embarks on Rehab Journey with Louisville Assignment

The Cincinnati Reds have initiated infielder Noelvi Marte’s rehab stint at Triple-A Louisville. Marte, still serving an 80-game suspension for testing positive for Boldenone during spring training, is permitted a “rehab” assignment during this period.

This week, Louisville hosts the St. Paul Saints, offering locals a chance to witness Marte’s return to action. While he can spend up to 20 days on a rehab assignment as a position player, Marte’s eligibility for return on June 27th hinges on any unmade games due to postponements.

As the Reds prepare for Marte’s return, decisions loom regarding roster moves and potential promotions. Though certain options remain open, including the possibility of his return to the major league club or an assignment to Triple-A, the decision may be influenced by his performance during the rehab stint.

Considering Marte’s previous contributions, he may be a valuable addition to the big league club, particularly in light of positional needs. Notably, Marte exhibited promising form in his previous major league stint, showcasing batting prowess and versatility in his gameplay.

In discussions with the media, Marte addressed the circumstances surrounding his suspension, expressing uncertainty regarding the presence of Boldenone in his system. While acknowledging the need for heightened dietary awareness and health management, Marte highlighted the challenges posed by differing healthcare systems between countries.

Instances of tainted supplements leading to failed PED tests are rare but not unprecedented, underscoring the importance of vigilance in athletes’ dietary choices. Despite the setbacks incurred, Marte remains focused on his return to the field, determined to put the ordeal behind him and resume his career with renewed determination.
