Auburn Tigers Update: Bryce Deas commits to Auburn, and a 4-star running back recognizes a cultural fit on the Plains.
Inspired by his close friend and teammate Blake Woodby’s positive official visit to Auburn, 4-star linebacker Bryce Deas visited Auburn football over the weekend for a private workout and camp. Following his two-day visit, Deas received an offer from the Tigers and committed on Tuesday.
During his private workout, Deas worked closely with defensive coordinator DJ Durkin. The extensive interaction with the coaching staff made Deas’ decision to commit an easy one.
“You can tell that they want to make you better,” Deas told Auburn Undercover. “They address every mistake and provide coaching points on it. Being coachable will benefit both me and Coach Durkin.”
Deas is ranked as the #16 recruit from Maryland and the #66 linebacker in the class of 2025. However, Auburn is recruiting him as a ‘defensive athlete’ who can play multiple positions.
4-star RB fits Auburn football culture
Also visiting Auburn over the weekend was 4-star running back Shekai Mills-Knight, a priority target for the football program and running backs coach Derrick Nix. Mills-Knight has formed a strong relationship with head coach Hugh Freeze, who sees him as a perfect fit for the Tigers.
“It was really real; he’s one of the more down-to-earth coaches, very transparent,” Mills-Knight told Auburn Rivals. “He told me he needs me here, likes who I am, and believes I fit the culture.”
Mills-Knight, ranked as the #33 RB in the class of 2025, has already visited Alabama, Miami, and Michigan. He has upcoming visits to Ole Miss and Tennessee and hopes to make a final decision before starting his senior year.
