Kansas football has bolstered its 2025 recruiting class with the addition of three-star tight end Joeseph Skipworth. The Florida native announced his commitment to Lance Leipold and the Jayhawks on Wednesday morning, following an official visit to KU this past weekend. Skipworth chose Kansas over 21 other offers, marking a significant win for the program.

The recruitment of Skipworth was spearheaded by KU offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes, who discovered the 6-foot-5 tight end during the winter shortly after joining the Jayhawks. Grimes maintained consistent communication with Skipworth over the next five months, fostering a strong relationship. In the spring, Grimes traveled to Florida to watch Skipworth work out, which led to an offer and an official visit to Lawrence being arranged within days.

Skipworth’s recruitment was competitive, as he received offers from six other Power Five programs, including Mississippi State, Boston College, Illinois, and Pittsburgh. He had official visits scheduled with SMU, KU, Tulane, and Pitt for the month of June.

Ranked as one of the top tight ends in the class, Skipworth is considered the No. 67 tight end nationally and the No. 151 rising senior in Florida by 247Sports. The 247Sports Composite places him just outside the top 1,000 recruits nationally and ranks him as the No. 53 tight end in the class.

During his junior season at Pace High School, Skipworth caught 11 passes for 240 yards and five touchdowns. His multi-sport background, including football, basketball, and baseball, has impressed college coaches. On the football field, Skipworth believes his versatility makes him a valuable asset.

“I’m versatile,” Skipworth told Phog.net earlier this spring. “As a tight end, you’ve got to be able to do pretty much everything on the field. You’ve got to be able to be a down lineman and block a D-end. You have to be able to go out wide too and be able to run routes on a linebacker or a safety. So I’d say I’m very versatile, physical and fast.”

With Skipworth’s commitment, Kansas continues to build a strong foundation for its future, adding a player with significant potential and versatility.
