New Detail Emerges About Jarome Luai Amid NRL Controversy Involving Lachlan Galvin at Wests Tigers

Lachlan Galvin is reportedly seeking an early release from the Wests Tigers due to losing confidence in the club’s direction and growing frustrated with the uncertainty surrounding his NRL future. The young player has felt disillusioned since the club signed Panthers star Jarome Luai for next season, which he found blindsiding.

A recent report claims that Galvin’s manager has requested an immediate release, marking at least the fourth time this year that his controversial manager, Isaac Moses, has made such a request. Following the Tigers’ heavy 56-14 defeat by the Dragons, Galvin reportedly expressed to his teammates his eagerness to leave the club. This loss was the Tigers’ eighth consecutive defeat, placing them at the bottom of the ladder and on course for a third straight wooden spoon.

Despite Galvin being under contract until the end of 2026, CEO Shane Richardson has declared that the club has “no intention” of releasing him. Journalist Dave Riccio emphasized that Galvin’s chances of an early release are slim. According to Riccio, the Galvin camp, including his family, remains steadfast in seeking a release, not for financial reasons but due to concerns about his career trajectory at the club.

The club’s recent struggles are just one factor behind Galvin’s desire to leave. His camp is reportedly upset with the Tigers’ management for bringing in players, like Latu Fainu, Samuela Fainu, Bud Sullivan, and most recently Luai, who may block his path to playing NRL.

Riccio explained that deeper issues stem from Benji Marshall’s belief that Galvin was better suited as a back-rower, compounded by the Tigers signing other back-rowers and halfbacks. This led Galvin and his family to feel that there were constant roadblocks in his career progression.

Initially, Galvin was not seen as the first-choice five-eighth to partner Aidan Sezer, with Jayden Sullivan favored for the role and Adam Doueihi working towards an NRL return. However, Galvin impressed during pre-season, earning enough trust from coach Benji Marshall to be given a starting role in first grade.
